Day 25, 26, & 27 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 25, 26, & 27!

Hello guys!  I hope you’re doing well.  I am feeling great and getting stronger.  Sorry I missed the blog yesterday.  I am giving myself permission to be OK with letting things go. Please forgive me:)  Our bodies are amazing. Our bodies remind us that there is so much to learn.  I hope you are challenging yourself and trying new things.  You will amaze yourself by how strong you really are.  Sometimes strength means to be present and do nothing.  Sometimes, it takes more strength to do that:))))

 

 

1) Friday- Friday’s are our CORE day! We will be meeting at the park since it’s Spring Break!  I love that my clients don’t make excuses.  They want to work out and figured out a way to do it without having to get a sitter:)))  Meet us at Balboa Park 9:30-10:30am
We’ll start off at the bleachers:))))

 

We have a treat for you this weekend!!!  Karen from Fitness With Karen will be here to take care of our Zumba addiction:)  So dance with us and do your core exercises too!!!
Saturday at Pulse Fitness LA in Sherman Oaks!!!  11-12pm

SUNDAY- Is relax and unwind day.  Take a day to recover.  Quiet your mind, body and soul.  Whether or not you celebrate Easter Sunday, take some time to reflect on what the day represents.  A new day, a new beginning, a fresh start, redemption, hope, glory, and love.  Enjoy:))))

 

2) Food- Water!!!
I will keep reminding you guys to drink your water!!!  Be intentional about getting it all in.  Drink half of your weight in ounces.  For example, if you weigh 150 pounds you will drink 75 ounces of water daily.  Just make it a habit.  Carry your water bottle everywhere.  Do it!

 

3) Mantra of the Day! – Champions are not Born, They’re Made!!!
Everyday you have an opportunity to be a champion.  The only thing that separates the average people from the champions are the time and effort champions are willing to put in. It’s not automatic or genetic.  It’s not going to happen by osmosis.  It’s a CHOICE to take action towards your goals and not give in to laziness and excuses. Another thing about champions is that they have a short memory.  Shake it off and move on!  You decide!!!  It’s up to you:)))

 

Stop talking and just keep doing.  You ARE a CHAMPION!!!  Act like it!

Day 23 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 23!

Beautiful people don’t just happen.  I’m not talking about six packs and long legs!  I’m talking about women who are strong, who are compassionate, who are daring, who have a purpose, who are willing to put themselves out there.  I’m talking about women who are not afraid to fail.  Women who get back up after defeat and won’t go down without a fight.  Beauty is only skin deep.  Let’s really work and value what’s inside!!! The superficial stuff only lasts a short time.  Leave a legacy and be a role model for women to come!!!

3) Mantra for the Day:  Stop Being A Perfectionist!
Anyone else struggle with perfectionism!?  Sometimes perfectionism shows up in me by trying to do too much and getting totally overwhelmed.  Sometimes, it shows up in me by being so overwhelmed that I just don’t do anything at all!  It’s important to know what the root of perfectionism is.  I’m sure it’s different for everyone.  For me, it goes back to control.  I want it done a certain way.  I have a certain expectation.  I feel like I have to do it all.  I also end up comparing my progress with other people.  This does not create peace in my soul.  So, I have to learn to let things go.  I have to be OK with slow progress.  I have to be patient and learn to delegate.  This is all a work in progress and I’m learning all this as I type this:)  I am learning to enjoy the baby steps and not be in such a hurry.  Relax!  Chill!  This is my goal:)))  If you have tips on overcoming this, please share!!!

 

I felt the need to share this because we can all relate to this in one way or another.  Please take some time to give yourself encouragement, kindness and love today. You are worth it.  You really are:)

Day 22 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 22

Well, I went to the Doctor and sadly I had a miscarriage over the weekend.  We were not very far along.  Initially, we thought we were already at 12 weeks but the ultrasound only showed 6 weeks.  I’m grateful that I didn’t experience a lot of pain.  I’m doing well and getting my energy back.  Thank you for all the well wishes and enthusiasm for my pregnancy.  Unfortunately, it’s not meant to be right now.  I have never had a miscarriage and it definitely helps me to have more compassion on others.  I’m thankful to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family.  I feel very blessed.

 

 

1.  Tuesday- Cardio day.  Go for a walk, run, hike, bike ride, swim, dance class, etc….
Whatever you end up doing, just move that booty!!!:))))

 

 

2.  Food- Clean Eating List!
I’m happy to report that kangaroo is on the list! LOL:)))  This list must be from Australia:)

 

 

3. Mantra for the day:  Surrender
Surrender and faith go hand in hand.  Being a Christian, it’s a given that I want God’s will for my life.  I’ve been living my life by faith.  The kind of faith that makes my knees shake and puts knots in my belly.  I love to conquer my fears and do crazy things that I would never do.  Now, my prayers have been, “God let me walk through every door you want me to walk through and close every door that I’m not supposed to walk through.”  Walking indicates ACTION!  I will keep moving until the door shuts.  Then I will move again in another direction until it’s clear that I need to go another way.  It has been such an amazing ride.  It gives me such security and I don’t have to second guess myself because I truly trust that God is leading my life.  So, even with going through a devastating miscarriage, I truly feel surrendered to God’s will and I feel a lot of peace.  I think it’s a blessing to be able to relate and comfort another person who has gone through the same experience.  I know I’ve been comforted by people who have wished me well and have been through it too.  Surrender is a beautiful thing.  It totally takes the pressure off of trying to be in control of everything.  I did that for a long time and believe me, I do not want to go back to that!  Thanks for letting me vent.  I think it helps to just get it out.  I’m feeling good physically.  Maybe it will hit me later but I’m not sad.  I’m resolved that this is how it’s supposed to be.  I will focus on what I do have and that’s a loving, amazing, encouraging, supportive, husband and three healthy, vibrant, funny, smart, loving kids.  I am surrounded by people who love me.  I am truly blessed.  I am humbled and amazed by the blessings.  Thank you:))))

Day 21 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 21

It’s Monday and I hope you are ready to go after it this week!!!  We are going to work hard and be determined to finish strong.  This next week will be the turning point for you.  This week will determine if you’re serious and ready to make lasting changes or if this is just going to be a fad for you.  How disappointing to go through all this hard work and come this far only to quit and go back to the way you were before.  You have to choose to endure the pain of change and not want to go backwards.  I believe in you guys!!!  You can do this:)

 

 

1.  Monday- Cardio for 30 minutes and lower body exercises for 30 minutes.  I want you to be huffin’ and puffin’ during this workout!  If you still look pretty after your workout, you didn’t work out hard enough!!! LOL!

 

2.  Food- Lets not make food our master.  You be in control of what goes in your body.  Stay connected, mindful, engaged and present.  Really make the effort to be in the moment and not let excuses get the best of you.  Plan, plan, plan!!!  If you do blow it, shake it off and move on:)))

 

 

3. Mantra for the day:  Make the Investment!!!

We are all given the same 24 hours in the day.  How are you using it.  Just like we need to be fully present to live in the moment and intentional about our food choices, we need to do the same with our time management.  You will be busy!  We’re all busy!  Make your health and fitness a priority.  Its non-negotiable.  If you wait for perfect conditions, it will never happen.  It’s going to be inconvenient.  It will be too cold or too hot.  It will be too early or too late.  Whatever the excuses are, it’s time to STOP IT and make a decision!  Learn to multi-task.  Take your babies in the stroller and go for a walk, go for a walk with your spouse or friends.  Whatever it is, figure out what works for you and do it.  Remember EXCUSES don’t produce results..only ACTION produces results!!!  This is our week ladies!!!  Train hard and be disciplined this week!

Day 18 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Today, I officially told Facebook that we are moving to Austin, Texas.  So once it’s on Facebook, it’s officially, official!!!  It’s so bittersweet because we LOVE Los Angeles and of course, all our family and friends.  It really made me grateful for the amazing people God has put in our lives over the years.  Erik and I have lived here forever.  I moved here when I was seven from the Philippines and Erik moved to LA from Boston when he was two.  You never know where life will take you.  It’s so important not to take people or time for granted.  LA will always be home to us but we are looking forward to our new adventure!
Thank you for being such great friends to us and our family.

To be vulnerable is to be exposed.  To be stripped to our core is a humbling experience because we must deal with what’s left.  Food can be a great mask.  Extra weight or being underweight takes the focus off of what’s really going on inside.  When we start to deal and peel off layers then we have to come face to face with who we really are.  Take a moment to embrace that person.  Your authentic, vulnerable, amazing self is dying to come out.  Give her a chance to prove to you that she is strong and capable of dealing with what life has to offer.  You are stronger than you think you are.  Openness and honesty gives others the courage to do the same.  Share your heart and share your strength!!!

Day 17 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 17!

Wow!  This week has flown by!   I’m taking it easy and listening to my body.  It’s very hard for me to chill and relax.  I’m early in my first trimester and being “advanced maternal age” I want to be careful.  I had high hopes of doing high intensity workouts during this pregnancy but so far, I’m too tired to do anything!!! LOL!  Please keep me in your prayers:)))

 

1) Thursday- Yoga Day!

 

2) Sugar Fact of the Day!  I am convinced that sugar is from the devil!!! LOL!
I challenge you to go ten days without sugar.  Starting NOW!!! :))))  Let us know how it goes!  Don’t worry, you’ll live!  Trust me:)))

 

3) Mantra for the Day- What’s your Transformation Story?

I’ve had my moments of being chubby and thin.  I am really excited because for the first time, I feel like all my cylinders are working together.  I am eating well and exercising at my peak performance.  In the past, I couldn’t get it together.  Either I worked out a ton and ate like crap or I ate really well and didn’t work out.  Also, my mental game was not on straight.  My motives were not pure and because I wasn’t obese, I didn’t really feel the urgency to get fit.  I knew my body well enough that if I needed to lose a few pounds I could.  Well, the yo-yo dieting took a toll on my body and now I struggle with thyroid issues, gluten sensitivity and sugar addiction.  I really have to be super careful and eat healthy because I HAVE to, not just because I WANT to.  I think the biggest thing I’ve learned so far on this journey, is to be yourself.  So much of my struggle came from looking at other women and comparing myself.  My standards we’re not realistic.  So I learned to be patient and OK with myself.  I had to surrender the idea that as a forty two mother of three I wasn’t going to look like a woman in her twenties.  I don’t mind it because I’m actually in way better shape now than I’ve ever been!  So, be patient.  Surrender your expectations and enjoy the journey.  It’s not going to be perfect everyday.  Be OK with it!

Now, I get to work on having a fit pregnancy.  Wish me luck:))))

Day 16 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Sorry I missed yesterday’s blog.  I forgot how tiring pregnancy can get:)  I definitely feel wiped out and I’m listening to my body.  Thank you for all the well wishes.  I’m really excited about staying active throughout the whole pregnancy.  I didn’t really go after my health and fitness until after my third child was born.  Of course, it started as total vanity in trying to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.  What I discovered was a lifestyle change and got off the yo-yo dieting train.  It’s not been perfect but it’s definitely empowering to know that you have the ability to change your life.  You can do it.  It’s one decision at a time.  Thanks for being on this journey with me.

This is such an awesome quote!  Our daily habits are what will bring us success.  I know that sometimes life can be a little boring, we can be sick of eating the same things or doing the same exercises but as you’re working little by little everyday you are inching your way closer to your goals.  You may not be where you want to be yet, but at least you’re not where you started!  Enjoy the journey.  Don’t get so impatient and freak out when you’re not seeing results.  Do the work daily and you will get there.

Day 14 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 14!

Happy Monday my friends!!!  I hope you had a victorious weekend and that you worked out and ate clean all weekend:)))  If you didn’t, don’t fret!  Today’s a NEW day:)))  Start fresh, hit restart, and let’s go!!!

 

 

1) Monday-Stretch, Cardio and Lower Body workout!  If you think too hard about working out, you’ll talk yourself out of it!  Just do it:)))

 

 

 

2. Food-Portion Control!  This is something we constantly have to keep reminding ourselves.  The portions just keep getting bigger! If you’re not reading labels, you should be.  Be aware.  It’s your body, it’s your responsibility!  Yesterday, we went out to dinner.  I automatically asked for a to-go container and wrapped up half of my plate.  I had more than enough for dinner and enjoyed the other half for lunch!  Check out this great chart….

 

3. Mantra for the Day!!! -Visualize your Life!!!
Are you using the power of visualization in your life?  In your time of quiet and peace take some time to visualize how you want your life to look.  Take some time to envision what it would be like to run after your kids at the park without being in pain or being winded.  How would it feel to be able to shop at certain stores and wear certain clothes?  If you can see it, you can achieve it.  Keep pictures up in a special place that will motivate you.  If you haven’t discovered Pinterest yet, it’s a great site where you can create your own boards. (Follow me on Pinterest:))  Keep a pair of jeans or a dress that you want to fit into out where you can see it daily.  Strive everyday to move towards your goal.
Everyday spend some time imagining and dreaming about the life you want to have.  Then do one thing that will move you closer to that goal. When you are engaging in an activity or ready to eat a bite of something, ask yourself, “Is this going to get me closer to my goals?”  If the answer is “NO!”  Then get rid of it or stop doing it.

Day 12 & 13 of Spring Clean Challenge!

It’s time to enjoy the weekend!!! Stick to clean eating over the weekend.  You can do it!!!

 

1) Saturday- Workout with friends and family.  Enjoy outdoor activities and pick up new hobbies.  Do something you’ve never done before and don’t be afraid to try new things!!!

Sunday- Rest and Relaxation day.  Don’t underestimate the power of resting:)))

2) Food-  Eat fresh, colorful foods whenever possible!
Eat the rainbow and drink tons of water!!!

Day 11 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 11

I mentioned before that this is a journey for all types of people.  Some of us are trying to lose 100 pounds and for others it just might be the last nagging ten pounds.  What I’ve realized is that it doesn’t matter what the amount is, it’s all mental!  My theory is that it’s 99% mental and 1% genetic.  You know those people that are naturally slender and can eat whatever they want?  Yeah those people!  I ain’t mad at ya but I’m talking to the people that actually have to work real hard to be fit and healthy:)  It starts in the mind.  Keep your mind tough and make no excuses!!!

 

1.  Friday- Stretch and do 30 min of solid cardio and 30 minutes of strength training!

2.  Food- Part of being successful in this program is to eat small meals throughout the day.  I eat about every three hours.  Remember to always pack a snack!  Nuts and fruit are great to keep in your purse in case of emergencies. Consider putting an emergency packet of protein bars and water in your car for those unexpected moments. It would be great to plan your day and pack your food so you are not tempted.  Remember. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!”

 

 

3. Mantra for the day: Forgiveness!

You may be asking, “What does forgiveness have to do with weight loss?”  Well, you would be surprised!  A lot of our issues stem from holding on to resentments, bitterness and hurts.  One of the way it manifests in our being is by self sabotaging and not being kind to ourselves.  It doesn’t make sense at all but I see it all the time.  Really forgive from your heart.  Forgiveness is for you not the other person.  You are basically allowing your heart and soul to be free of baggage and negativity.  Once you let all that stuff go, make sure you forgive yourself.  We can get so guilted out by our own bad decisions and we punish ourselves because we don’t think we deserve to be happy or have the life that we desire.  Empty yourself of the things that are hanging you up.  Underneath all that stuff is an amazing person waiting to come out!!!
