Day 20 of 21 Day Challenge!!!

I’m so excited!  I feel great, I’ve lost seven pounds and I’m not craving the bad stuff I normally used to eat.  It’s been super cold here in Austin and the one thing I really miss is going to Starbucks for a hot drink:)  Other than that, I really haven’t missed much.  I’m hoping to stay on course and eat a plant based diet while adding a little bit of chicken, turkey, and fish on occasion.  We’ll see.  I haven’t totally landed yet and that’s OK.  Our lifestyle change should be one that fits our lifestyle.  Just change a few things at a time and keep evolving.  Don’t get bullied into all the fads.  Pick one that works for you and if it doesn’t, adjust accordingly.

Mantra of the Day- Deal with your life or your Life will Deal with You!
This has been an amazing journey so far.  I’ve been really inspired by the team that I’m coaching.  They have grown and have been so diligent during this cleanse.  We have gotten clarity, had amazing breakthroughs, and have done a lot of soul searching.  Weight loss is not just about the physical.  It’s truly dealing with the whole package.  A lot of our bad habits and weight issues come when we have not dealt with our lives on a heart level.  What do you need to unpack and dig out today?  What is lurking in the shadows and hiding in the closets that need to be cleaned out?  There are many tools to deal with our pain.  One of the greatest tools I’ve used is called, “Grief Recovery”.  I’m lucky enough to be really good friends with several Grief Recovery facilitators.  Pain is always underneath grief, addiction, depression, anger, unforgiveness, etc…. Grief Recovery Institute is nation wide.  I have friends in Los Angeles and Austin, Tx that are facilitating classes.  Let me know if you’re interested and I will hook you up!

Day 20 & 21 of February Sweetheart Challenge!

Day 20 & 21

Hello weekend!  I hope you had a fantastic week and ready to have a great weekend.  I had a great week and I’m looking forward to a great marrieds event our church is hosting on Saturday night as well as seeing my son play in his band on Sunday!  Life is busy but exciting.  I hope you’re all doing well:)))

1) Saturday- Activity Day!!!  Today I’m going to dance!!!  What are you doing!?!?

Sunday- Take your rest day.  Super important to let the body heal and recover:)

2) Seven Rules to Live By:

3.  Mantra for the Day: You are Enough!
As an overachiever, workaholic, type A personality, OCD type person, it can be tempting to think that you need to be doing more.  “If only” becomes the constant mantra in your head…”if only” I was skinnier, healthier, faster, richer, prettier, a better wife, mother, employee, employer, etc…..At the end of the day, what is the ROOT!?  Why do we aspire to all these things!?  What are we trying to gain!?  There’s such a vacuum and an insatiable appetite for approval.  What exactly are we trying to prove!?  Who are we seeking approval from!?  Take a deep cleansing breath and know that you are already approved!!!  You are already accepted!!!  It doesn’t matter what others think of you.  It only matters what God thinks of you.  Honestly, if we don’t surrender to that, we will be constantly looking for approval in so many places and we will keep coming up empty handed.  You are more than enough.  I believe in you and I’m grateful to be in this journey with you.  Just take it one day at a time:)))

Love you guys and I’m rooting for you:)))  XOXO!!!

Day 19 of 30 Day Challenge!!

Day 19!

Hello Friends,

We only have ten days left!!!  WOW!!!  That went fast!  Let’s really kick it into high gear for the last hurrah!  This is a lifestyle change so really look at the progress this past month or two and be grateful that you are moving forward.  No matter where you are today, know that you have the ability to make the right choice right now:)))

1) Tuesday- Cardio Workout!  Find your passion, hobby, favorite workout!  I love workouts that don’t feel like a workout. For me, that’s DANCE!!! I can dance for hours and sweat buckets and it doesn’t feel like a workout.  Do something you enjoy and if you haven’t found your favorite activity yet, keep looking!  You’ll find it:)))

2) Summer Sweets:)))
Grilled Pineapple- just add cinnamon….WOW!!!  AMAZING:)))  Warning!  Very addictive!

3) Mantra for the Day- Live each day like it’s your last!

I am reminded today to never take my life for granted. Our friends lost their baby daughter during heart surgery today.  She was only two months old.  It’s so sad.  It’s a great reminder that our journey to wellness is so much more than just to look good.  This lifestyle change is to change everything.  Our priorities, our schedule, our relationships, and our environment.  Do take a moment to take an inventory of what’s important in your life.  You are a beautiful being designed to do amazing things.  Now, go do it!!! :))))

Love you guys and I’m rooting for you!!!  XOXO:)))

Day 18 of Spring Clean Challenge Part II

Day 18!

Hello!  I’m so excited for the weekend:)  I have a lot of Zumba dancing in my future.  My sister Karen will be in town from Palm Springs to teach a couple classes.  It’s so great to find a workout that you LOVE and especially one that doesn’t feel like a workout!  What’s your favorite???

1) Friday- ZUMBA
If you haven’t tried it, you have to!  If you love to dance, you’ll love Zumba!  It’s a combination of latin dances like salsa, samba, meringue, cumbia, etc….Check out this fun Zumba combination!  Just do it:)  You don’t have to be an experienced dancer, just have fun!  Dancing is good for the soul:)))

2) Food- Great Reminders:)))

  • Eat whole foods as much as possible: Try to eliminate all refined foods
and pile up on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, beans, nuts, seeds.
  • Love your  fruits and veggies: Include them in each one of your meals (ideally, do not over cook them).
  • Avoid sugar: Beware; it hides in many refined and processed foods. If you must snack on processed foods, make sure that these ingredients are not on top of the list (3 first ingredients): barley malt, beet sugar, brown rice syrup, cane juice, corn sweetener, dextrin, dextrose, fructo-oligosaccharides, fruit juice concentrate, glucose, sucrose, invert sugar, polydextrose and turbinado sugar.
  • Eat only when hungry and stop before you are full: Allow your brain to realize that you are full before going for that second portion (20 minutes).
  • Drink up! Drink a glass of water with each meal and throughout the day.

3) Mantra for the Day!!! -Take Responsibility!!!
I’ve heard all the excuses and I’ve made them all.  “I’m big boned….It’s my genetics….My family doesn’t support me…..My friends party too much….I don’t have time to work out….I don’t like the taste of healthy food….I don’t know how to cook…I don’t like to work out…I can’t afford it…..It’s too hard…..My dog is sick!!!!” *Insert whiny voice* LOL!!!  C’mon we’ve all said something like this before as an excuse why we can’t succeed.  STOP IT!!!  If you want it bad enough, you will find a way.  If you keep thinking about it or putting it off until a more convenient time, then you will still be stuck six months from now.  Why not NOW???  Why not YOU???  Join us as we get fit and healthy.  Start TODAY!  You can totally do this!  One day at a time:)))

The only person holding you back is YOU!!!

Love you guys and I’m rooting for you:))) XOXO!
