Day 17 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 17!

Wow!  This week has flown by!   I’m taking it easy and listening to my body.  It’s very hard for me to chill and relax.  I’m early in my first trimester and being “advanced maternal age” I want to be careful.  I had high hopes of doing high intensity workouts during this pregnancy but so far, I’m too tired to do anything!!! LOL!  Please keep me in your prayers:)))


1) Thursday- Yoga Day!


2) Sugar Fact of the Day!  I am convinced that sugar is from the devil!!! LOL!
I challenge you to go ten days without sugar.  Starting NOW!!! :))))  Let us know how it goes!  Don’t worry, you’ll live!  Trust me:)))


3) Mantra for the Day- What’s your Transformation Story?

I’ve had my moments of being chubby and thin.  I am really excited because for the first time, I feel like all my cylinders are working together.  I am eating well and exercising at my peak performance.  In the past, I couldn’t get it together.  Either I worked out a ton and ate like crap or I ate really well and didn’t work out.  Also, my mental game was not on straight.  My motives were not pure and because I wasn’t obese, I didn’t really feel the urgency to get fit.  I knew my body well enough that if I needed to lose a few pounds I could.  Well, the yo-yo dieting took a toll on my body and now I struggle with thyroid issues, gluten sensitivity and sugar addiction.  I really have to be super careful and eat healthy because I HAVE to, not just because I WANT to.  I think the biggest thing I’ve learned so far on this journey, is to be yourself.  So much of my struggle came from looking at other women and comparing myself.  My standards we’re not realistic.  So I learned to be patient and OK with myself.  I had to surrender the idea that as a forty two mother of three I wasn’t going to look like a woman in her twenties.  I don’t mind it because I’m actually in way better shape now than I’ve ever been!  So, be patient.  Surrender your expectations and enjoy the journey.  It’s not going to be perfect everyday.  Be OK with it!

Now, I get to work on having a fit pregnancy.  Wish me luck:))))

Day 8 of Spring Clean Challenge!

Day 8

Congratulate yourself for your commitment, investment, and hard work during this challenge.  This is not easy.  As you can see, when you work hard and follow the plan, you will see changes.  I applaud you guys!!!  If you’re not seeing changes yet, don’t worry.  It will happen.  This takes time and even though you may not see results yet, you will….I promise:)))


1. Tuesday- Cardio day!  Try some of these quick bursts of cardio you can do anywhere.  Do them thirty minutes at a time for two sets.  If you don’t have the time to do it consecutively, no worries.  Squeeze it in, but make it happen!!!


2. Food- I’ve been asked the question, “What do I do when I eat at a restaurant where I cannot resist temptation??? Help!!!”
Well, this is a tough one for all of us, myself included.  Early in our journey, our muscles of self control are still being developed.  So, going out with friends for food and drinks will definitely be a challenge.  Here are some tips: Try to look at the menu ahead of time so you can be prepared with what to order or eat beforehand. Maybe you can suggest to meet up for drinks or desserts.  Try to stick to fruit or yogurt and seltzer water.  I know it seems really boring and not fun.  I get it!!!  For me, I’m trying to change the way I spend time with people.  Instead of going out to eat, I suggest a hike, bike ride or a yoga class.  I love being active with my friends and family.  You can also host a dinner party where you can be in control of what’s on the menu.  No matter what you decide, go in to the situation prepared.  That will be half the battle.  Good luck!!!


3. Mantra for the Day! -Change the Tapes!!!
OK..I know we’ve been talking about this a lot but it bears repeating.  Let’s stop the voices in our head and replace it with faithful, positive thoughts.  Here’s a great exercise.  Write down what you really think about this journey.  Every time a negative thought comes up, write it down.  When you are done, look at your paper and cross out the negative thoughts and replace it.  Here’s an example of what it looks like.

Day 50 of 90 Day Challenge!

Day 50

I’m still struggling with a severe allergic reaction that appeared on Friday morning.  I didn’t think anything of it but it hasn’t gotten better and I’m still not feeling 100%.  I’m frustrated because I am doing all the right things, eating well, juicing, exercising and I feel like this is a great challenge to surrender and trust.  I am bummed about not working out because I was really on a roll and getting so strong.  Then I remembered what I always tell you guys, “This is a marathon, not a sprint!”  So, I will wait patiently and get to working out when I’m able.  Thanks for the support:)))


1.  Monday- Just because I can’t work out doesn’t mean you can’t:) Stretch and do 30 min of solid cardio and lower body work. I expect you to push yourself hard today.  I want sweat & tears!!!  DO IT:))) Beast mode needs to be ON!!! :)


2.  Food- Super food of the day!!!  Kale!!!
I put kale in my smoothies every morning.  Kale is amazing with salads and pasta.  Try baking it in the oven and make kale chips.  Here’s some recipes…enjoy!  Don’t be scared, it’s really good!!!  Read here for the amazing benefits of kale…..Why kale is good for you!



3. Mantra for the day:  Surrender
This is my mantra today.  No matter where you’re at in life, this is always a great lesson.  Here I am totally helping people get fit and healthy and I have all these health issues!  I’m so frustrated.  I have to remember that I’m not in control of my own body.  Things will happen totally beyond my control and I have to learn how to surrender.  It’s not easy but it’s a great life lesson.  How are you doing with your surrender today?

Day 8 of 30 Day Challenge!!!

Day 8!

TGIF!!! It’s Friday and it’s time for the weekend.  I know for us here in LA it’s been summer for awhile:)  We have been hanging out by the pool and enjoying the great outdoors.  Remember that this challenge is a lifestyle change.  This is not a life sentence:)  This shouldn’t be torture or a struggle.  Learn to enjoy your new healthy habits.  Enjoy creating new, clean dishes.  Enjoy new workouts and outdoor activity.  Don’t shy away from working out hard.  Your body will respond and will start craving it more and more.

1) Friday is CORE day!  Try these exercises.  Always remember to engage your core and keep it tight!  This will also help your posture and make you look taller and leaner:)


2) Mantra for the Day- Patience and Perseverance!!!
This is such a huge obstacle for me.  I am a results oriented person and I’m not very patient.  We’ve been doing these challenge groups since January.  All my clients were sending in their success stories of weight loss and inches lost and my scale was not budging at all!  I had to learn to surrender as I had to adjust to my health issues and modify my diet to get results.  I love that there really is no one size fits all approach to health.  We’re all different and we all have different needs.  I went to the Dr. today and I lost 5% body fat!!!  I was very happy about that.  I actually gained four pounds but I know muscle weighs more than fat.  I recently increased my cardio and cut out sugar so I know that had a lot to do with it.  This is not easy guys!  Changing old habits are challenging.  If you want it bad enough, you will see progress.  Stay persistent, stay patient, be all in!!!  I’m totally here for you and our community is here for you.  No matter where you are today, just take one step towards the right direction and soon enough, you will get there.  Love you guys and I’m rooting for you!!!
