Day 6 & 7 of 21 Day Challenge!

Woo hoo guys!  Week one is done!  How did it go?  I’m so proud of myself for not cheating and not losing my mind!  I was kind and didn’t chew anybody’s head off!  Just ask my husband:)  Seriously, the first week is the hardest week.  I hope you felt as victorious as I did.  But even if you didn’t and you had a horrible start, we still have two weeks to go.  You can do it.  Start fresh, and start over…NOW!

I love the word journey because it implies that we have not arrived yet.  You could be in the beginning, middle, or towards the end and we will still have lots to learn.  Enjoy the ride.  Learn to accept where you are.  Learn to give yourself grace.  We’re the hardest on ourselves.  Take a deep breath and tell yourself, “It’s going to be OK.”

Enjoy the weekend!  Plan for success.  If you’re going out, eat before or pack snacks.  If you’re going to a restaurant, don’t be afraid to be high maintenance and ask for your food to be cooked as clean as possible.  I just came back from Starbuck’s with a girlfriend and had a fruit cup and water.  I was a boring date but we had great conversation.  Focus on other more meaningful things other than food.

Keep it moving.  Do some yoga, hike, jog, dance, swim, run, whatever it is you enjoy to do, just do something!

Go to my Pinterest page to get some recipes and food ideas!

XOXO!

Day 3 of 21 Day Challenge

Day 3

We’re only three days in and I’m already feeling like this is going to last forever!  I’m actually enjoying the food and not missing anything in particular but it does take being mindful, planning, and being engaged.  Always plan for success.  Pack snacks if you’re going to be out for the day and make sure you’re staying hydrated.

Sometimes, I can really struggle with what everybody else is doing.  I need to be reminded to just worry about myself and not compare.

A Few mantras that have really helped me:

Sweep your own side of the street!- Me

If I just worry about myself, that will keep me busy for my whole lifetime. What defines you?  Are you concerned by what others think of you? Too often I’m consumed by insecurities then I have to remind myself to be defined by my creator! That’s the only opinion that matters.  All the other stuff is rooted in ego and pride.  Let it go!!!

***what defines you?

How’s your eating going?

Today I had:
Breakfast- Grits
Lunch- Lettuce wrap
Dinner- Salad with lots of veggies
snack- popcorn, carrots, hummus, grapes

Make sure you’re drinking lots of water!!!

1.) Wednesday -Upper Body Day!
I love getting fitness related gifts!  I got an exercise ball and a juicer!  I’m so excited!!!  I’m taking my fitness to a whole new level.  You should have seen me today trying new exercises on my ball and I totally fell off of it a few times.  It would have been a great, graceful, exercise video. LOL!  I will be incorporating these in my classes.  Great for core strengthening and just a great full body workout:)))

2.) Food- Juicing!
Since I got a new juicer today, I’m so excited to try new recipes.  Please send me your favorites either on the comment section or on our facebook page.  Here are some I’m anxious to try.  Keep checking in with us because I will be posting more juicing recipes:)

3.) Mantra of the Day!- Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should!

This is my mantra for 2013!!!  I’m starting now because this is going to be a tough one for me.  I like to DO a lot of things.  I need to settle down, breathe, and only do what is necessary.  I need to practice being more in the moment and not be so concerned about doing everything all at once.  I have to remind myself that it’s OK if it doesn’t ALL get done TODAY.  I put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself and I need to chill:)  You guys need to help me OK!?  We’re in this together.

Love you guys and I’m rooting for you!!!

Day 61 of 90 Day Challenge!

Day 61!

Something great is waiting on the other side:))))

1)  Friday- Core Day!!! Everyone wants defined abs.  We are obsessed with the six pack!  Well, it takes a lot of work!  Cardio, weight training and super clean eating.  Some people are blessed with genetics and can get definition quickly.  Others have to work really hard.  Wherever you fall in the spectrum, don’t focus on it too much.  Focus on strength and how you feel.  It will happen. Keep persevering.  One way to make sure you’re utilizing all your core muscles is to open up your hip flexors.  Stretch them often.  It also loosens up your lower back.  Here are some great hip flexor stretches.

Check out these hip flexor stretches

My abs inspiration!  I love that she still has her curves:)

2.) Food- Here are some gluten free ideas!!!  Looking forward to trying out these alternatives.  For recipes, follow me on Pinterest.  These are all on my board titled, “Food I can Eat!”  Follow me on Pinterest:)  Can you believe these are gluten free???  Must.Try.

3.) Mantra for the Day!!! -Focus on Abundance not Scarcity!!!
It’s easy for me to look at all the food that I can’t have right now.  Sure it makes me sad but the more I focus on all the things I can’t have, the more depressed I’m going to be.  If I focus on all the new foods I get to taste and discover, the more excited I get!  This goes for clean eating too.  This is the best time to choose healthy eating.  There are so many great tasting recipes out there that won’t make you feel deprived at all.  Our taste buds will adjust.  Focus on the abundance today!!!  Keep an eye out for a cook book that my sister Karen and I are working on.  She is a genius and we’ve been working on amazing, healthy recipes that taste sinfully delicious!  So excited:)  Stay tuned!

Love you guys!  I’m rooting for you:)))

Day 19 of Spring Clean Challenge Part II

Day 19!

Hello Friends!
I hope you enjoy this fabulous weekend with your loved ones.  I hope you’re doing well and feeling good.  Stay connected and engaged. Don’t miss the moments.  Whether you’re feeling great or not, it’s a blessing to be able to feel.  When we start dealing with what’s really going on and not turning to food for our comfort and satisfaction then that is the beginning of true transformation!

1) Saturday! -Enjoy the outdoors if you can.  Take advantage of nature that is all around us!  Go for a hike, a bike ride, a run on the beach, whatever it is, do it with joy!

2) Food- Date Night!
I don’t know about you but I get in a lot of trouble when I eat out and smell the aroma of all the amazing food at the restaurant!  It’s hard to have self control when you are surrounded by amazing food!!!  Here’s an idea, make a romantic dinner at home with
nutritious, healthy, ingredients.  You will really be able to enjoy dinner guilt free and save money too!!!

Follow me on Pinterest to get these amazing recipes:))) My Boards:)

3) Mantra of the Day!!!  NO SHORTCUTS!!!
I know it’s tempting to take the shortcut.  There are many options to get nipped and tucked, lifted and lipo’d!  You can get diced and sliced and zapped and lazered!  If you’re really overweight, you can get your stomach stapled and get a band to shrink your tummy.
Look, if you have had any of the aforementioned procedures, I ain’t mad at ya!  All I’m saying is that it covers up a much larger issue of the heart.  Our weight problems are just a by-product of something going on much deeper within.  So, instead of wishing and saving
for the newest procedure, you can start dealing with WHY you are having issues with self control and lacking the motivation to start getting healthy. I get it.  I’ve been pretty active my whole life and have had moments of letting myself go and not caring.  It wasn’t until my body started to fall apart that I really started to take it seriously. So, don’t wait until  your body starts betraying you.  Start NOW! Get healthy and active so that you won’t have to suffer in the future. The right food and exercise are your best bet to keep your body working at its optimum speed.  Join us for the next 60 day challenge starting April 30th.  I have partnered with Michelle from Michelle’s Health and Nutrition Zone to offer you excellent fitness and nutrition tips.  Join our community to get the motivation, inspiration and accountability that you need to get you going.  We’re here for you and we are here to be your biggest cheerleaders!!!  There’s no greater reward than doing it the hard way!!!  If you really want to take a shortcut, check this out!!! LOL:)

Love you guys and I’m rooting for you!!!  XOXO:))))

Day 33 of Spring Clean Challenge!!!

Day 33

This challenge is coming to a close.  I have learned so much and have grown so much through this challenge.  I am feeling stronger and more powerful as each day passes.  I love that I don’t have the cravings like I used to and the attachments to certain foods like I used to.  It took me about three months to feel like I can let go of the addiction to caffeine and sugar.  I feel so empowered!  I now use food as fuel instead of as a drug to pacify my emotions.  I am so honored to be able to walk with women just like you and help you overcome these struggles and work together to renew our minds.  Our mind shift is the most important part of this challenge. We will never be perfect but with each day we will get closer to our goals as long as we are willing to do the work.  Most importantly, we are learning to accept who we were designed to be and that is priceless:)

1.) Thursday -Yoga Day!
“What is appearing as poison in the beginning, that will prove nectar at the end.” -Guru
“Prison or Paradise, you decide.”- Lisa P. Yoga Teacher

It took me about three years to LOVE yoga.  I was a hard core gym rat, runner, dancer, and I didn’t really think yoga was going to be that challenging so I never took it.  One day I was at the gym and there was a yoga class.  I decided to take the class because there were no other classes at the time.  The instructor was an older lady and was very gentle.  I left the gym and didn’t think much about it.  The next morning the alarm went off and I seriously could not even move my arm!!!  I was so sore in places I never thought possible!!!  I definitely underestimated the power of yoga.  I didn’t go back until a few years later.  I had given birth to my third child and the last of the stubborn baby weight would not come off.  I heard about Power Yoga and decided to try it out.  I was desperate and it was purely for vanity reasons!  What I realized was that yoga was so much more than just a workout.  This is where I really learned to balance my mind, body and spirit.  I would walk in on some days and swear that that was going to be my last yoga class!  I hated it so much! I had to learn surrender and acceptance and that was a huge life lesson for me.  I also lost twenty pounds:)  So I guess, it works!!!

2.) Food- Super Food of the Day! Cauliflower!!!

Oven roasted cauliflower recipe, made with cauliflower florets, garlic, lemon, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. Yummmmm!!!!  Found this on Pinterest!  Follow me and check out all the recipes….Follow me on Pinterest:)

3.) Mantra of the Day!- Transformation!!!

I love this!!!  We’ve been conditioned to lose weight to fit in a dress, to look good for a reunion, for a wedding, or some other special occasion.  Getting healthy and fit is a LIFESTYLE!!!  There is no finish line.  It’s a marathon not a sprint.  I hope you will join us for the next challenge that will begin on Monday, April 2nd!  Registration will close on March 31st at midnight!  REGISTER HERE!!! :)

Love you guys and I’m rooting for you!!!

Day 26 of Spring Clean Challenge!!!

Day 26!

Well today I had a doctor’s appointment.  I’ve had Hashimoto’s disease for about five years now.  Well, about two years ago I started to cut down on gluten.  I’m about 80-90% gluten free with the occasional harmless bites of my kid’s mac n’ cheese, bite of bread or pizza here and there.  Well, come to find out, with my condition, you can’t just ‘cut’ down gluten but you must be completely off of it.  My body reacts to gluten and causes inflammation for up to 60 to 90 days!  That explains why I’ve been having trouble shedding the last few pounds!  I’m working my butt off and eating pretty clean but it just won’t budge.  Anyway, I am kind of sad.  I have to go through a grieving period.  I will say good-bye to pasta, bagels, pizza, mac n’ cheese, croissants, biscuits, pastries, cupcakes, etc….LOL!  Not that I eat those foods anyway, but the thought of not being able to eat it if I want to kind of sucks. *sigh*
